Vietnam Inflation Rate at 13-Month High of 3.52%
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam increased to 3.52 percent in November 2019 from 2.24 percent in the previous month. This was the highest inflation rate since October last year, as inflation accelerated for both housing and construction materials (3.73 percent vs 2.94 percent in October) and food and catering services (5.61 percent vs 2.65 percent) with that of grain food rose 0.53 (vs 0.54 percent); and household appliances and goods (1.36 percent vs 1.34 percent). In addition, transport costs fell less than a month earlier (-2.13 percent vs -3.19 percent). Meantime, inflation eased for textile, footwear, hat (1.59 percent vs 1.73 percent); education (4.23 percent vs 4.25 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, went up to a 4-1/2 year high of 2.18 percent in November from 1.99 percent in October. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.96 percent.

Vietnam Inflation Rate Rises to 2.24% in October
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam increased to 2.24 percent in October 2019 from 1.98 percent in the previous month. Inflation accelerated for both housing and construction materials (2.94 percent vs 2.72 percent in September) and food and catering services (2.65 percent vs 1.81 percent). Meantime, inflation eased for textile, footwear, hat (1.73 percent vs 1.82 percent); education (4.25 percent vs 4.65 percent); and household appliances and goods (1.34 percent vs 1.36 percent). On the other hand, transport costs continued to fall (-3.19 percent vs -2.65 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, edged up to a three-month high of 1.99 percent in October from 1.96 percent in September. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.59 percent.

Vietnam Inflation Rate at Near 3-1/2 Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam declined to 1.98 percent in September 2019 from 2.26 percent in the previous month. This was the lowest inflation rate since April 2016, as inflation slowed for housing and construction materials (2.72 percent vs 2.80 percent in August); textile, footwear, hat (1.82 percent vs 1.85 percent); and education (4.65 percent vs 6.60 percent); while transport costs fell faster (-2.65 percent vs -0.62 percent). On the other hand, food and catering services prices rose faster (1.81 percent vs 1.70 percent), while household appliances and goods inflation was steady (at 1.36 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, edged up to 1.96 percent in September from 1.95 percent in August. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.32 percent.

Vietnam Inflation Rate Slows to 2.26% in August
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam declined to 2.26 percent in August 2019 from 2.44 percent in the previous month. Prices rose slowed for food and catering services (1.70 percent from 2.34 percent in July); housing and construction materials (2.80 percent from 2.92 percent); household appliances and goods (1.36 percent from 1.42 percent); and garment, footwear, hat (1.85 percent from 1.86 percent). In addition, transport costs fell further (-0.62 percent from -0.04 percent). Meanwhile, education prices rose at a faster pace (6.60 percent from 6.48 percent in July). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, went down to a three-month low of 1.95 percent in August from 2.04 percent in July. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.28 percent, following a 0.18 percent rise in July.

Vietnam Inflation Rate Rises to 2.44% in July
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam increased to 2.44 percent in July 2019 from 2.16 percent in the previous month, boosted by prices of education (6.48 percent from 6.29 percent in June) while transport costs fell less than a month earlier (-0.04 percent from -0.52 percent). Meantime, prices increased softer for food and catering services (2.34 percent from 2.44 percent), housing and construction materials (2.92 percent from 3.33 percent); household appliances and goods (1.42 percent from 1.44 percent); and garment, footwear, hat (1.86 percent from 1.88 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, edged up to a four-year high of 2.04 percent in July from 1.96 percent in June. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.18 percent, following a 0.09 percent fall in June.

Vietnam Inflation Rate at Over 3-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Vietnam decreased to 2.16 percent in June 2019 from 2.88 percent in the previous month. This was the lowest inflation rate since April 2016, as housing and construction materials prices rose less than in the previous month (3.33 percent from 4.21 percent in May) while prices fell for transport (-0.52 percent from 2.28 percent) and food (-0.56 percent from -0.68 percent). Meanwhile, prices went up at a faster pace for: household appliances and goods (1.44 percent from 1.32 percent); education (6.29 percent from 6.17 percent), and garment, footwear, hat (1.88 percent from 1.79 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, edged up to 1.96 percent in June from 1.90 percent in May. On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched down 0.09 percent, following a 0.49 percent rise in May.
