Indonesia Q2 FDI Rises for 1st Time in 5 Quarters
Foreign direct investment in Indonesia (excluding investment in banking and the oil and gas sectors) jumped 9.6 percent year-on-year to IDR 104.9 trillion (USD 6.99 billion) in the June quarter of 2019, compared to a 0.9 percent fall in the previous quarter. It marked the first increase in foreign direct investment since the first quarter 2018. Singapore was the biggest source of investment, followed by Japan and China, while transportation, telecommunication, and base metal sectors were the biggest beneficiaries.

FDI into Indonesia Falls for 4rd Straight Quarter
Foreign direct investment in Indonesia, excluding investment in banking and the oil and gas sectors, went down 0.9 percent year-on-year to IDR 107.9 trillion, or USD 7.2 billion, in the first quarter of 2019, compared to a 11.6 percent fall in the previous period. It marked the fourth consecutive quarter of decline in foreign direct investment. Singapore was the biggest source of investment, followed by China and Japan, while logistics, telecommunication and utility sectors were the biggest beneficiaries.

Indonesia Q4 FDI Contracts for 3rd Straight Quarter
Foreign direct investment in Indonesia (excluding investment in banking and the oil and gas sectors) shrank 11.6 percent year-on-year to IDR 99.0 trillion (USD 7.4 billion) in the December quarter of 2018, compared to a 20.2 percent fall in the previous quarter. It marked the third consecutive quarter of decline in foreign direct investment, as investors were cautious ahead of the general election, which will be held in April 2019. Singapore was the biggest source of investment (USD 1.6 billion, 33.7 percent share of total FDI in Q4), followed by China (USD 2.2 billion, 29.6 percent share) and Japan (USD 1.2 billion, 16.2 percent share). For 2018 full year, Southeast Asia's biggest economy attracted IDR 392.7 trillion (USD 29.31 billion) in the investment, down from USD 32.24 billion in 2017.
